Welcome to The Rotary Club of Alexandria. Our Club is an organization of approximately 95 Business people dedicated to serving their community of Alexandria and participating in humanitarian projects around the world. We assist those in need in the areas of education, clean water, growing economies, fighting disease, saving mothers and children, protecting the environment, disaster response and promoting peace.
This is the beginning of another exciting Rotary Year. Our Club was Chartered March 14th, 1928. On June 11th our Club will celebrate our 94th Charter Night formal dinner and dance. We will also celebrate our 15th Annual Taste for Giving, and our 5th Annual Flags for Heroes where we raise hundreds of thousands of dollars that support over 40 local Alexandria charities. On Contributions Day we host a special luncheon to honor all of our Charities and present them with the proceeds from our very successful fundraising. During our Scholarship luncheon we provide college scholarships to outstanding Eagle Scouts and an outstanding local high school student. |
Our membership is 112 and growing and is a great cross section of men and woman of all ages including a vibrant group of young professionals.
The official charter of the Rotary Club of Alexandria was awarded March 14, 1928
Among other efforts Rotary International is committed to the elimination of polio worldwide. The next worldwide goal is to ensure everyone has access to clean water.
On a local level, we raise funds to help improve the quality of life for our Alexandria neighbors.
Alexandria Day Nursery and Children’s Home. Throughout its existence, the Rotary Club of Alexandria has focused its interest on the welfare of the children of Alexandria.
It all started in a small house on Prince Street in 1933 and so the “Day Nursery” was born.
The Rotary Club of Alexandria Grant Program provides financial support to nonprofit organizations that advance literacy for children and adults and/or improve the lives of children, youth, seniors, and others with special needs within the city limits of Alexandria.
Our grants are distributed in general categories to over 40 local charities.
