At the start of the meeting President John Moorman had several announcements: contributions for the Campagna Center are going well, on Jan. 26th we’ll have a Rotary Trivia Night like the one we had with Taste for Giving, and committee sign-ups are needed on the website. Sharon Meisel gave us the names nominated for the Club Board of Directors that we’ll vote on during the Jan. 26th meeting. Our speaker was Jim Knotts, CEO of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Fund (VVMF)- introduced by our John Woods who has been on the VVMF as the consulting engineer since almost the very first. Jhon told us that Jim took over as CEO when Jan Scruggs retired in 2015. He showed us a video, “Never Forget” that gave us a good coverage of all that the Vietnam Wall and VVMF have accomplished He told us that Wall now has 58,320 names engraved (started with 57,939 when dedicated in 1982). The “Wall That Heals” is a traveling display that is 3/4 scale of the actual Wall and includes a traveling Museum and Information Center. Jim invited us to tour the Wall and download the phone app for details. A most interesting presentation of an important monument.
