This was another very interesting meeting – first with the report on another successful Taste for Giving and a speaker to provide ‘insider’ information relating to the recent Presidential election and all its following turmoil. Rick Endres told us of the TFG success both financially and enjoyment so many members and guests had from the dine in, the Alexandria Symphony, the Trivia contest, the raffle, and the live auction. We raised almost money as last year and everyone should be proud of our club and those many people who did so much to make it a success. Bill McLnturff from Public Opinion Strategies then provided us some insights about many facets of the presidential election. Bill said that some factors driving public opinion are the intense partisanship and the Covid-19 pandemic. Other issues like concerns with police violence, race relation cresses, and gaps in income also tended to exacerbate partisan actions. Not a happy speech but one that maybe helped us understand the scope of problems we are now facing.
