Our meeting on June 16th was another busy ZOOM session with President Sharon Meisel hosting from Kansas City, MO at home with family after the death of her father. We had our ‘normal’ meeting activities:, greeting guests, updates on Flags for Heroes and volunteer needs, announcing that Connie Hammell was named Managing Principal of KWCPA (1st ever female managing partner), word on our donation to the Rotary Club of Kingston, Jamaica, encouragement to check in the virtual Rotary Convention June 22-26, and continued encouragement to patronize our TFG restaurants. Our inspiring program was a Contributions Day panel discussion by three of Alexandria/s nonprofit leaders – and fellow Rotarians – who run/own organizations we support. Cathi Coridan introduced the panel of Tammy Mann, Mary Lee Anderson, and Brooke Curran who shared their experiences including the rewards and challenges. Also addressed was the importance of systemically addressing economic and racial disparities – it was noted that “if the people we serve fail, as a community, we all fail”.
